As wireless carriers and observers gear up for the launch of the iPad 3G, the industry is holding its collective breath to see the impact that the device will ultimately have on already over-taxed networks.
According to a recent Morgan Stanley report, by 2014, 3G penetration will reach 100 per cent in Japan and 37 per cent in the Asia Pacific and by 2015, mobile Internet users are expected to exceed desktop Internet users. With the knowledge that the expected usage of 3G data usage will be literally unlimited, wireless carriers could be in for the ride of their lives as the growing ranks of Apple enthusiasts rush towards the media-heavy device.
