iTwin makes Data Access Simple and Safe
iTwin, a novel device that provides access to one’s files – anywhere in the world – is introduced at CommunicAsia 2010
SINGAPORE, 15 June 2010: iTwin, an A*STAR spinoff, introduced a novel consumer device at CommunicAsia 2010.
Two ends of a cable, no cable - Comprising two identical parts called ‘Twins’, iTwin connects two computers by plugging a Twin into each. Once connected, each computer can then remotely access data on the other one.
Using iTwin is just like using a cable to connect two computers, except that there is no actual cable. The two computers can be anywhere in the world – all that is required is that the computers be online. In effect, iTwin uses the Internet as the ‘cable’ between the two computers, with the Twins being the two ends of the cable.
“iTwin provides access to the files on a computer, from anywhere. It is really simple to use and there is no storage restriction – you can access an entire hard drive, if you want to. And in case your device is lost, you can remotely disable it. So your data is safe.“ said Kal Takru, COO of iTwin.
Using iTwin requires no downloading of software, configuration of settings or login details. It is entirely Plug & Play.
It is a ‘First-of-its-kind’ and will be available for US$99 at iTwin.com on Sep 1, 2010. The device was developed at A*STAR, Singapore and is based on patent-pending Twin technology.
