DCNS will exhibit at Defense & Security 2009 which will be held in Bangkok (Thailand) from 4 to 7 November 2009.

DCNS is a major player on the European and world markets for value-added naval defence systems. As a naval prime contractor, shipbuilder and systems integrator, DCNS combines resources and expertise spanning the naval defence value chain and entire system lifecycles. DCNS delivers innovative solutions from integrated warships to strategic systems, equipment and services.

The DCNS stand showcases:

  • DCNS will showcase its expertise in submarine design and construction, through the Scorpene medium-size submarines. Already chosen by the Malaysian Navy, the Chilean Navy and the Indian Navy, Scorpene submarines represents the state of the art in submarine design and construction and benefits from the latest technologies developed for nuclear-powered classes operated by the French Navy, particularly as regards acoustic discretion and combat system performance. Excellent endurance makes the Scorpene one of the few medium-displacement designs suitable for extended ocean patrol duties. The modular design can also be readily tailored to each customer’s specific mission profiles and other requirements.
  • The Formidable-Class Frigates Programme: DCNS was contracted back in 2000 to build six Formidable-Class Frigates as part of the New Frigate Programme, which was outlined by Singapore’s Ministry of Defence through the Defence and Science Technology Agency (DSTA). The design of the Singapore Formidable-Class Frigates is custom made by DCNS to respond to the RSN needs. They are highly capable multi-mission platforms, with significant anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare capability, augmented by a 10 Tonnes class helicopter. These Frigates are also very stealthy platforms as shaped for a reduced radar cross-section.
  • The innovative Gowind®, a new family of ocean-capable vessels designed by DCNS for all littoral and sea operations, Gowind® vessels are exceptional tools able to fulfil missions ranging from anti-piracy up to sea control and denial.
  • The FREMM multi-mission frigates programme combines the latest technologies developed by the DCNS group. These technological and engineering advances will make the FREMM frigates world leaders in their class. In October 2009, the French Minister confirmed to DCNS an order supplement for three new FREMM. This brings France’s total order to 11 vessels, scheduled for delivery from 2012 to 2022. In addition, 1 FREMM frigate is currently under construction for Morocco and Italy confirmed the order of 6 units, on a total of 10.
  • Shore-based training centre: DCNS’ shore-based submarine training centre comprises of a set of interconnected simulators arranged to represent a full-scale model of a submarine’s control area. The aim is to give both initial and advanced training to an entire crew in submarine operations and procedures. The centre can test the crew’s response to malfunctions, incidents and accidents as their training advances and throughout their time at the centre.
  • Building on its expertise as prime contractor for the French Navy, DCNS offers evolvable combat solutions responding to all fields of naval warfare and supporting multiple equipment configurations to address all customer needs in terms of mission, ships and environment. DCNS is also providing solutions for combat system modernisation, as well as cooperative engagement and network centric warfare.
