DCNS presents latest underwater innovations at UDT Europe 2009
The 2009 edition of the annual UDT Europe show – a leading forum for the international undersea defence community – will be held in Cannes, France, from 9 to 11 June. DCNS specialists will present papers and displays on some of the Group’s latest technologies. A consistent innovator thanks to its R&D and engineering programmes, the Group is constantly introducing new products and services in response to customers’ emerging and anticipated needs.
DCNS innovations, products and studies on show at UDT Europe include:
• SMX-24, a design concept for a modular submarine that can be reconfigured to meet changing needs. The baseline hull features four payload zones for optional modules ranging from weapon systems and combat swimmer facilities to intelligence-gathering sensors.
• Andrasta, a compact next-generation conventional-propulsion submarine to meet the growing demand for advanced capabilities and high performance in both brown and blue water.
• UUV studies, including the latest unmanned underwater vehicle architectures and technological solutions to meet strong anticipated demand for UUVs deployable by surface combatants.
• Technical data for a proposed MCM system for stand-off mine countermeasures using unmanned vehicles.
• Demonstration of augmented reality technologies for ops rooms for future-generation submarines.
DCNS specialists will also present a concrete example of the application of standard IEC 61508, including its benefits and impact on warship design using an integrated life-cycle approach to safety.
